Sam Raimi Trying To Get His Brother Ivan To Help Write 'Evil Dead IV'
The Herald Sun, an Australian newspaper, interviewed Sam Raimi recently in a Spider-Man 3 press junket and Sam touched on Bruce Campbell and Evil Dead IV. When asked about his friendship with Bruce, Sam had the following to say:"I love Bruce – he is really funny and I always enjoy working with him. We went to high school together and we would make movies as kids and he is one of my oldest friends. He is always torturing Peter Parker."
The next question directed toward Sam was about the possibility of Evil Dead IV in 2008. Here is Sam's response:
"Well I'm trying to get my brother, Ivan, to write the screenplay with me. He wrote Army of Darkness, the third one, with me and we have been talking about another one, but we haven't started work on it."
So that's the first time I've heard of Sam talking about writing the screenplay for Evil Dead IV. Hopefully his comments here is a step in the right direction for the return of Ash.

Nice! It sounds like he's pretty serious about making it.
It seems he was referring to the Evil Dead remake, not IV.

On second thought, I'm not sure.
First the interviewer asks about the "new Evil Dead," which sounds like he's referring to a remake, but then Sam says "we have been talking about ANOTHER one" which sounds more like he's referring to a sequel.
I'm just confused.
Hmmm. The interviewer is definitely asking about the remake, but it isn't clear whether Sam is talking about the remake or sequel.
I'm always skeptical about Evil Dead 4 news, but it sounds like Sam is actually talking about a sequel & not a remake. Besides, isn't he only producing the remake? I haven't read anything about him writing it.
I'll just assume he's talking about a sequel.
