Adweek Calls Bruce's Old Spice Commericals One Of The Year's Best

Adweek gave a lowdown on the Wieden & Kennedy ad agency and had this to say about the commercials they produced featuring Bruce Campbell.

Also, its work for Old Spice was one of the year's most entertaining. It included "Painted Experience," in which Bruce Campbell, in a double-breasted blazer, cryptically explains "experience" while walking in front of a ridiculously long nautical mural

Ash Goes Guitar Hero

Kotaku.com had a feature on an individual who penned Bruce Campbell and created his own custom Guitar for his Guitar Hero Wii Controller with an 'Evil Dead' theme.

evildeadguitar.jpg From artist Frank C., the creator of the No More Heroes Wii, comes this custom Evil Dead Wii GH Guitar controller. Who doesn't need a little more Bruce Campbell in their life? Great work Frank, can you teach me how to to that? I'm feeling the need for some kind of customized system or peripheral. Better yet, I'll just send you a check and you can do it for me. I'm too lazy busy writing.

Ash Meets...Xena

Thanks to Johnathan for the next bit of info. WOW! Fanboy heaven right now for those who love seeing Bruce's characters in ink. So far, Ash has crossed over with Darkman, the Marvel Universe (Spider-Man, Wolverine, etc) and now he will venture into the Xena-verse. Adding even more insanity to this mix is that the character Autolycus, portrayed by Bruce in 'Xena' and 'Hercules' will also be making an appearance. Click on the link for more info. The first of the four part mini-series will drop in March.
The cross-over no one asked for -- or expected -- is finally here! Too big for the movie of television screen, Dynamite presents the ultimate "Why Not? tale as Ash and Army of Darkness meets Xena, the Warrior Princess in the first issue of this 4-part mini series event!
Written by master ... uh, scribe, John Layman and illustrated by Miguel Montenegro, the first issue of our most unnecessary adventure finds Ashley J. Williams transported to the world of Xena and Gabrielle and most importantly Autolycus, who of course, bears more than a passing resemblance to our main man Ash

Mark Verheiden Talks New Evil Dead Comic, Hopes To See Trio Make Fourth Film

Mark Verheiden did a interview with Comicon.com in which he talks about his work on the new Evil Dead comic, along with his relationship with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell. Here are a few excerpts of Verheiden.

I think the Evil Dead franchise was one of those rare and wonderful instances where all the right ingredients came together and produced something magical. Director Sam Raimi, producer Rob Tapert and star Bruce Campbell took a story that, bare bones, could have been just another routine slasher movie and elevated the material into something unique. I still remember seeing a midnight showing of the first Evil Dead in Los Angeles, probably 1983, not long after word had started to spread. The crowd went absolutely nuts and I was hooked from that moment on.
I’m not sure it’s for me to see the potential, this is Sam, Rob and Bruce’s world and I’m just temping. That said, from a fan’s perspective, I would love to see an Evil Dead 4 with the three original creators at the helm, because I know they would surprise, amuse and entertain us in ways mere mortals can’t begin to imagine.

  • Visit the city of Orgrimmar and you’ll have the chance to check out a shop called "Boomstick Imports". Bruce Campbell would be proud.

    Phantasm V back in production

Apparently Phantasm 5 is supposed to go into production after the writers strike. Now you might think, yeah so... what has this to do with BC? Well, a few years ago, when this movie was also supposed to be made, it had BC as one of the actors. Though this was a script, that was written by Roger Avary (who wrote Pulp Fiction), called Phantasms End. And at this point it still seems unclear if this is the script that's being filmed and if this includes BC. I personally would love to see Don Coscarelli team up with BC again (even if it's not for Bubba Nosferatu) and seeing BC in action with Reggie would be my dream come true. It also seems that this movie delays Bubba Nosferatu.

Bruce Campbell's Old Spice Ads Influencing The Market

AdWeek had an article on the trends for commercials in 2008 and had the following to say regarding what type of advertisements will be coming in the new year.
    clipped from www.adweek.com
Expect, then, more ads along the lines of Old Spice's "Hungry Like the Bruce" from Wieden + Kennedy—in which Bruce Campbell plays the piano in a room full of hunting trophies while crooning Duran Duran's 1980s hit "Hungry Like the Wolf" to a bevy of beauties—and the Dos Equis spots from Euro RSCG starring "the World's Most Interesting Man," who bench presses nurses and wrestles bears in his spare time.
