'Maniac Cop' Coming To DVD

Maniac Cop was a movie Bruce starred in in 1988 that spawned two sequels. The movie is about a Police Officer who starts killing innocent civilians for no apparent reasons. The horror movie was written by Larry Cohen and now will finally be coming to DVD according to Bloody Disgusting. Fangoria got a hold of the cover art (which you can see on the side) for the DVD and the special features will include audio commentary by our man Bruce. Bruce was also in the sequel, Maniac Cop 2. He plays Jack Forrest in the films. No word on the release date, but Maniac Cop goes up there with some great 'B' films of the 80's, so everyone should take a look at it when it comes out. Click Here to read the full article and you can watch a trailer for the film here.

Bruce Wants To See Ashton Kutcher Get Raped By A Tree

Bruce did an interview today with O-Rock 105.9 in Orlando and talked about his upcoming projects and Make Love! The Bruce Campbell Way. Regarding the directors cut of his recent book, Bruce jokingly said that he hasn't been sued yet by the actors that are portrayed in his book. The fresh news from the interview was Bruce talking about The Evil Dead remake. Bruce joked about the movie starring Ashton Kutcher (which it isn't) and said if it did star Ashton Kutcher, he jokingly said he would like to see him get "raped by a tree".Bruce also went on to say that they don't have a start date for the film (probably don't have a script either). Click Here to download the interview. Bruce also talks about what he thought when he heard Sam Raimi was going to direct the first Spider-Man movie, what he looks in a script, and talks My Name Is Bruce.

'My Name Is Bruce' Writer Mark Verheiden Responds To The News Of A Theatrical Release For His Film

Accomplished writer Mark Verheiden, who wrote My Name Is Bruce, posted a message on his blog in response to the news that My Name Is Bruce is getting a theatrical release. Here is Verheiden's response:

"As has been reported, it looks like MY NAME IS BRUCE, starring the amazing Mr. Bruce Campbell, will be getting a significant theatrical release. Details are still being worked out, but the "loving it" factor is apparently high among those with whom the decision lies. More from your intrepid reporter as it develops"

The key phrase in his response is "significant theatrical release". The new question that arose when we all heard that My Name Is Bruce was getting a theatrical release was, how wide of a theatrical release? I'm sure that Verheiden would know more of the details about the release of My Name Is Bruce than the average Bruce fan, and when he says "significant theatrical release", I hope he is referring to a wide release. Hopefully we get a release in mainstream theatres and not just the independant theatres, which are so few these days. But you can check out Verheiden's blog here.

'Jack Of All Trades' Episodes 5 And 6 Online

More Jack Of All Trades episodes are online. Episode 5 (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3) and Episode 6 (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3) have both been uploaded by some crazy Bruce fan onto You Tube. I will reiterate again, watch these episodes to get a feel for the show and go out and purchase the DVD. It is a great show for Bruce fans because he steals every scene and the one liners are great. Episode 6 guest stars Verne Troyer (mini-me from the Austin Powers movies) and he plays Napoleon in the episode while Jack (Bruce Campbell) and Emilia try to foil his evil plans. Check out the episodes and go buy the DVD because "You don't know Jack".

Breaking News: Head Of Dark Horse, Mike Richadson, Confirms That 'My Name Is Bruce' Will Get A Theatrical Release

Huge news everyone, the head of Dark Horse, Mike Richardson, did an interview with IESB a few days back which we followed up on, and now the second part of that interview has been released with Richardson confirming that My Name Is Bruce will get a theatrical release. When asked about what independant movies Dark Horse was working on, Richardson's reply was as follows:

"We just got finished shooting My Name is Bruce starring Bruce Campbell and directed by Bruce and Bruce and I produced it together so you can say he had three different parts on it. We shot it down in Southern Oregon on a 20 day shoot roughly and it turned out amazing, we just screened the assembly yesterday and like I said earlier I think people were rolling on the floor, it’s really funny and Bruce basically plays himself and he’s kidnapped off a B horror movie, “Cave Alien 2” and hauled off to a small town in the middle of nowhere where they ask him to save them from the creature in the cemetery. He goes along with the gag, he thinks it’s a gag, what happens afterward is very funny but this is full of “in-jokes” and full of cast members from previous Bruce movies, this is every Bruce Campbell lover’s, which I happen to be in that particular school, it’s every Bruce Campbell lover’s dream movie. It’s a riot, it’s really funny, everyone who loves Bruce Campbell is going to love this movie."

The question that fans had on their minds, the whole time that My Name Is Bruce was in production, was whether it will get a theatrical release or straight to DVD release? When asked about the chances of My Name Is Bruce hitting the big screen, Richardson says:

"Oh, we are definitely going with a theatrical release, our partner, Image Entertainment, not to be confused with the comic company, the DVD company, they are funding our independent line, they just recently saw the assembly and they loved it. There’s no doubt we are prepared, we are just going into post, and while in post we made the decision to go theatrical."

There you have it, for all you pessimistic people out their who thought this movie would end up on the Sci-Fi channel, we are going BIG TIME. If the studios are impressed by just the rough assembly of the film, imagine what the finished product is going to be, I can't wait. Spread the word, My Name Is Bruce is coming to a theatre near you. Click Here to read the full interview with Mike Richardson.

Oh yah. I posted one article right under this one. For those who care, Ellen Season 4 (The Bruce Year) is out on DVD today. Check the article below if you haven't fainted yet from hearing that My Name Is Bruce is getting a theatrical release.

'Ellen' Season 4, The Bruce Year, Out Today

Back in '96 Bruce joined the cast of the old Ellen show as a Ellen's Boss, Ed Billik. Bruce was in 7 episodes in Season 4, and that was the only season Bruce would take part in. Ellen Season 4 is now out on DVD, so all you died hard Bruce fans, go get it. Its your chance to see Bruce in a sitcom because we will probably never see Bruce in a sitcom again. Other than that, thats all the news for today. I'm dissapointed that A&E didn't put Bruce on the cover with the rest of the cast members. If you want to see a clip of Bruce from Ellen, Click Here. Bruce is hilarious in it.

Bruce's Agent Now A Regular On Jon Stewart's 'The Daily Show'

So it was a slow news day for Bruce news but there was an article today in the Boston Globe about Bruce's agent John Hodgman, who is now a regular reporter on the critically acclaimed, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. That was pretty weird but cool at the same time. I believe that Hodgman is Bruce's literary agent and not his acting agent (I could be wrong), and I assume that he stopped being Bruce's agent after he got the Daily Show gig. Here is where they mention Bruce.

"Hodgman majored in literary criticism at Yale and applied to an MFA program at Johns Hopkins University. He didn't get in, but by that time he was living in New York and working as a receptionist for Writers House, a literary agency, and eventually became an agent for the likes of B-movie star Bruce Campbell"

So that was pretty neat to hear that a guy can go from an agent for Bruce Campbell, to a reporter on the Daily Show. Hodgman could be the next one out of the Daily Show to have huge success. Steve Carrell and Stephen Colbert are just a few who have reached stardom. Check out the article here.

Bruce Makes An Appearence At The 'Going Back' DVD Release Party

Press Release Newswire had an article about the Going Back DVD release party, that took place yesterday, which talked about Bruce's appearence at the DVD launch. Going Back was a movie starring Bruce that was made in the early 80's, right after Bruce made The Evil Dead, and the movie shows the strong dramatic and romatic side of Bruce Campbell's acting ability. The DVD launch party took place in Birmingham Michigan and Bruce took time out of his busy book tour to drive back and to take part in some of the festivities. At the Q&A session, Bruce was once again asked about his role in Spider-Man 3, to which he replied, "The only thing I can say about it, is that we team up". Everytime Bruce says that, it's looking more and more likely that he is not playing Mysterio and maybe a bystander who assists Spider-Man (or Peter Parker) in some minor capacity. Bruce also went onto mention that the budget for Spider-Man 3 was well over $200 million and it might go down as the most expensive movie ever made. Going Back drops on October 17th. You can check out the press release here.

Bruce Says 'Bubba Nosferatu' Is Half Prequel

Bruce talked with the Tuscon Citizen yesterday to talk about his upcoming appearence in Tuscon on September 26th. Bruce once again confirms that he is signed to do a sequel to Bubba Ho-Tep, titled Bubba Nosferatu. Bruce says that "the sequel is half prequel" and that he couldn't say any much more. Half Prequel? that makes no sense, but Bruce is really good with words so if he says half-prequel, we probably will just get that. Bruce adds that there is no release date, because independant movies rarely know their release date. The article goes onto to mention some timbits on Bruce's book and that he is currently working on My Name Is Bruce. Click Here to read the article.

'My Name Is Bruce' Screened For An Audience Last Night

Great news comes from the head of Darkhorse Entertainment, Mike Richardson, who is co-producing My Name Is Bruce with Bruce Campbell. Richardson talked with IESB and said that a rough assembly of My Name Is Bruce was screened for an audience last night and quote, "people were rolling out of their chairs, it was a riot". Wow, rolling out of their chairs in sheer laughter, I hope fans get even more excited for this movie just by hearing Richardson's comments. I haven't heard someone say that about an independant movie in a long time. Click Here to read the interview with Mike Richardson. I'll have more news while it comes. Also in related news, Sam Raimi has inked a deal with Mike Richardson to produce a film based on the Darkhorse comics release about "two roommates who as their costumed alter egos are mortal enemies", called Arch Nemesis. It's supposed too be a sci-fi comedy of sorts. This project only adds to the list of projects Sam Raimi is doing right now. Sam and Rob Tapert still have around 4 or 5 movies in production through Ghosthouse Pictures, Sam is also producing a TV mini-series based on the Sword Of Truth novels, he is cutting Spider-Man 3, and is now producing this film. It makes you think if he will direct Bruce in a starring role ever again with all the stuff that Raimi has lined up. Sorry for the Sam Raimi timbit, I know its a Bruce blog but I thought it was important because anything Sam's involved in, there is a chance Bruce might pop up somewhere in the project. And since that new movie Arch Nemesis is being co-produced by Darkhorse, Mike Richardson loves Bruce (he is co-producing My Name Is Bruce) maybe Bruce could show up in this film. But its just wishful thinking. Keep waiting for My Name Is Bruce, lets get the buzz high so we get see this movie in the theatres and not straight to DVD.

More 'Jack Of All Trades' Episodes Online

The same Bruce fan that uploaded the first two episodes of Jack of all Trades (reported a few days ago) was at it again and added the second two episodes online. You can watch the episodes at the following links. Each episode is divided into three parts; Episode 3 (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3), Episode 4 (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3). I advocate that you go out and buy the DVD set once you get a taste of the episodes. I didn't upload the videos, I just found them. I know a lot of Bruce fans neglected to buy Jack of all Trades and instead bought only Brisco County Jr., because they didn't have enough money for both, so i just want everyone who didn't buy the Jack of all Trades set to know that they are really missing out on great work from Bruce.

IMDB Lists Rob Zombie As The Director For 'The Evil Dead' Remake

IMDB, which is probably the best resource on the internet for movies, has Director/Musician Rob Zombie listed as the director for The Evil Dead remake. Although a great resource, IMDB does lack credibility for movies in pre-production. There is no news from Sam Raimi or Bruce Campbell's to support IMDB's claim that Zombie is directing the film. There isn't even a script for that matter. When Sam Raimi last spoke of The Evil Dead remake, he said he wanted a young and aspiring director with a unique vision for the movie. Zombie is neither young nor aspiring since he has a few cult favorite horror films under his belt, including the fan favorite House Of 1000 Corpses. Not to take anything away from Zombie, he is an accomplished independant director, its just that I believe that IMDB's claim is false and I don't want fans to assume that Zombie is helming the movie without some sort of report to back up the claim. Take it for what you will. The rumors may have started when it was reported that Zombie was going to remake Halloween, and somehow got mixed up with a remake of another classic, The Evil Dead. Take IMDB's listing for what its worth, I just don't have as much faith for its movie listings in pre-production. I remember they once had Bruce listed as playing Xander's Uncle in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, which never happend and was eventually taken off. We'll probably get more talk of The Evil Dead remake when Sam Raimi's done making that little movie called Spider-Man 3. Click Here to view the IMDB profile on The Evil Dead remake.

'Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash' Talks Re-Emerge

Thanks to Stephanie for the next Bruce bit. Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash news is re-emerging from the mouth of Ronny Yu. Yu, who directed the first film Freddy vs. Jason, was talking with ComingSoon.net about his new movie Fearless and was asked about a sequel. When asked if he would direct the sequel, if New Line gives the movie a greenlight, Yu said "Yeah, they've been talking about it, and they even talk about bringing Ash [from Sam Raimi's Evil Dead movies] into the equation, and I thought it's terrific. It's almost like an updated version of The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. If they really want to do it and they want me to do it, I'd love to do it. It would be a lot of fun." So it looks like the talks about Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash aren't dead after all. I remember about a year ago, Sam Raimi decided not to give the character of 'Ash' to New Line because New Line wanted Sam to just "hand that character over" to them for free. So it looks like Sam might be fighting for producing credits for him and Rob Tapert (aka. Mr. Xena) on Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash and a cut from the profits, if New Line does decide to greenlight the movie for production. This is great news for fanboys who thought the movie was in development hell. If Sam does hold out on giving the 'Ash' character to New Line, its probably because he wants to make Evil Dead IV in the not too distant future.

Writer Of 'My Name Is Bruce', Mark Verheiden, Gives Us An Update On The Film

Mark Verheiden is the writer of My Name Is Bruce and he recently gave us some updates on My Name Is Bruce on his blog. Verheiden says that "I've had a chance to review some scenes from the upcoming Bruce Campbell epic MY NAME IS BRUCE, and I am pleased to report that all is well. Bruce is in top form, and the movie just plain looks great". I think thats all the confirmation we need to know this movie is going to be 'frackin' awsome. Verheiden says he has no news on a release date yet but he will keep us posted. You can view his post on My Name Is Bruce here, or you can click on the link above.

Buffallo Q&A Session Video Of Bruce - Talks 'Evil Dead 4', 'Evil Dead Musical', 'Jack of all Trades' DVD Set, And More!!!

Sorry for all the videos as of late everyone but this month has been saturated of Bruce videos since he is on his book tour and Q&A session videos are popping up like Ted Raimi in his brothers movies. You can click the links at the bottom to watch the Q&A session from the booksigning in Buffalo from September 5th. The 2 part video is about 15 minutes long in total and was actually the first stop for Bruce in his book tour. The Q&A session is hilarious as always and Bruce seems to make fun of all the questions more than he answers them. When asked about Bubba Nosferatu, Bruce says that filming will start sometime in 2007 and will be about Elvis vs. The She-Devil. Maybe the only question that has been asked more than the Spider-Man 3 question is about Evil Dead 4 in which Bruce replies, "Maybe when Sam's done making bags full of dough" something will happen with the fourth installment. The one extremely funny part was when a fan asked Bruce if there were any updates on Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash, Bruce reply is "your an idiot", which got a huge laugh. Watch the video. Bruce also talks about how crappy the Jack of all Trades DVD set was, The Evil Dead Musical, The Evil Dead Remake and much more. Click the following links to watch the 2-part video from the Q&A session (Part 1, Part 2).

Great Video Interview Of Bruce From Portland

Thanks to Brett Whitmarsh for the news. WCSH Portland did a video interview with Bruce the other day and this is probably the best Bruce Campbell interview I've seen in years. Its 20 minutes long and it touches all levels of Bruce's career. The interviewer is extremely knowledgable of Bruce's roles and asks some great questions. I won't go through the whole interview because I really recommend that everyone watch it, but Bruce talks about some really cool things. When talking about My Name Is Bruce, Bruce says "[This Oregon Town] is having problems with a monster so they think hiring a B movie actor will help get rid of the montser, and [I] screw everything up royally". Bruce also talks about how he built an old western town in his backyard from scraps of wood that him and his crew collected from locals. When talking about big budget movies, Bruce says that he hates doing them because the crew consists of just too many people. When making the Spider-Man movies, Bruce says that " I try to get a message to Sam through 9 assistant directors", illustrating his respone to making 'A' movies. Bruce says that the budget for Spider-Man 3 is well over $200 million and that he enjoys making television more than movies because the pacing is faster. Finally, the great question that the interviewer asked Bruce was, "Do you and Sam ever get together to talk about making a low budget movie", and Bruce's reply, "I don't think Sam knows how to make a low budget movie anymore...if he directed an episode of Hercules, he would die". Does that seal the fate of Evil Dead 4? no one knows. Great interview. You can Click Here to watch the interview or click on the link at the beginning. Just for your information, there are two other stories that I posted today, one on Bruce playing a waiter in Spider-Man 3 and the other on episodes of Jack of all Trades online, so check those out right under this article.

Post Analysis Of Bruce's 'Spider-Man 3 'Video Blog...Bruce Is Playing A Waiter

Thanks to Stephanie S. for her analysis on Bruce's Video Blog for Spider-Man 3 which was released the other day. So in late July, their was a gathering between Marvel and Hasbro to celebrate their new signed relationship regarding Marvel/Hasbro products and the attendees were treated to a preview of the video blogs that Sony would later release on their Spider-Man 3 website. One of the blogs that was shown at the gathering was the video blog of Bruce commenting on his 'cameo' roles in the first two films and his upcoming role in the third film. According to this article on Super Hero Hype date July 21, their was more additional footage from the Bruce Campbell Video blog that wasn't shown on September 13th video. In the additional footage at the Hasbro/Marvel gathering, after Bruce says "In the third one, I...you think I'm going to tell you?!" in the video blog, their are 'Several quick set shots followed with Campbell clearly playing a restaurant maitre'd' which were cut from the September 13th video blog of Bruce. So, this might be the information we need to make an educated assumption of Bruce's actual role in Spider-Man 3. It looks like Bruce might just be playing a waiter and not Mysterio. Thanks again to Stephanie.

'Jack Of All Trades' Episodes Online

Some Bruce maniac has just went and uploaded the first two episodes of Jack of all Trades on You Tube. The quality is actually pretty descent. If you have never watched the show, watch it. Bruce is great in the role and the one-liners are just histerical. The pilot was one of the best episodes and Bruce just lights up the screen. Please go out and buy the DVD after you get addicted to the first two episodes. Click the following links to go to the two episodes. Episode 1 (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3) and Episode 2 (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3). Jack of all Trades was an action-adventure show, in the spirit of Xena and Hercules, which starred Bruce as an undercover American Agent spying on French interests in the French occupied area of Pulau Pulau.

Video Of Bruce Q&A Session In Portland

I thank the individual who uploaded footage from a book signing in Portland a few days ago. The footage has 4 parts which can be found here (1 2 3 4) Bruce answers questions for the audience regarding everything from Jack of all Trades to his fans desire to roast him. A little girl asks Bruce the inevitable question, "Why didn't you make another season for Jack of all Trades?", and Bruce's reply is just too funny. Jack of all Trades is something that we rarely hear Bruce talk about and its nice to hear a response from Bruce regarding the show. Other questions that are asked include who would Bruce like to play him if If Chins Could Kill: Confessions Of A 'B' Movie Actor or Make Love! The Bruce Campbell Way were made into a film, would he like to get roasted, if he has accomplished all his goals in life, if he can beat up Ben Affleck, and the usual Spider-Man 3 question. When asked about Spider-Man 3, Bruce says that "The only thing that my lawyers will let me tell you is that I team up with Spider-Man". We've heard Bruce say this many times and I think that Bruce will actually team up with Spider-Man in an extremely minor role in Spider-Man 3. Bruce may just be playing a character that gives Peter a ride on the bus or serves him his food and not be playing Mysterio, but we will have to wait and see. Its nice to watch a Q&A session where we get fresh questions along the usual questions that Bruce gets asked. Someone please take a camera to the other Bruce signings. Bruce has 5 more stops left including Reno-NV (September 20th), Fresno-CA (September 22nd), Santa Barbara-CA (September 23rd), Tuscon-AZ (September 26th), and Portland-OR (September 30th). (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4) Can be viewed by clicking on those links.

Sony Releases New Interview Of Bruce Regarding 'Spider-Man 3'

On The Official Spider-Man 3 Website, Sony has a video blog which they continuously update that features interviews with the crew and cast members, and today they released a short interview with Bruce "Don't Call Me Ash" Campbell. It's a short video blog of Bruce about his roles in the first two Spider-Man movies and about his role in the third one. Watch the video, because I can't put into words how hilarious Bruce delivers the lines about his role in the first two films. Bruce goes over his regular routine but its still funny everytime. When asked about his role in Spider-Man 3, Bruce replies, "You think I'm gonna tell you". Now, what I am trying to figure out is where the interview with Bruce was taken place. Was the interview on the Spider-Man 3 set? At Bruce's Oregon Ranch? On the set of My Name Is Bruce? Bruce looks pretty spiffy in the interview, wearing a stylish black suit with his hair neatly parted and what not. Whenever we see pictures and videos of Bruce we rarely see him dressed this way. Could this be an interview from the set of Spider-Man 3? I Have no clue. If the interview was taken from the set of Spider-Man 3, we can kinda of speculate what kind of role he would be playing. Bruce seems to be wearing like an FBI style suit as opposed to a waiter suit, so if it is from Spider-Man 3 we may be able to cross out the possibility that Bruce is a waiter and put more emphasis in the rumor that he is dressed as Quentin Beck. But I have no clue where this interview takes place and if the houses in the background are real. Tell me what you think and leave comments below. Click Here for the interview or you can click at the link above.

First Review Of The 'Going Back' DVD Is In

DVD Talk did the first DVD review of Bruce's early 80's film Going Back. The review is extremely thorough and it talks about everything from the DVD features to the audio and video quality. Unfortunately, DVD Talk gives the review a negative one. Bruce does get a positive review in the role but the Going Back DVD is recommended for the Bruce maniac who has all of his movies instead of the casual fan. I guess for $19.99 a pop, they have a point. At least you get to see Bruce with a crazy mustache. Well, I will for sure add it to my collection of Bruce movies and I hope one day we will get The Love Bug and Gold Rush: A Real Life Alaskan Adventure on DVD. Check out the review here or at the link above. Going Back drops in retail stores October 17th.

Bruce Campbell Is Not 'Teaming Up' With Spider-Man In The 3rd Installment

Movie sites like Movies Online and Slashfilm are reporting that Bruce Campbell is teaming up with Spider-Man in Spider-Man 3, THIS IS NOT TRUE. This is what happend, yesterday we reported that Super-Hero Hype had a tipster send them information from a Bruce Campbell Q&A session and Bruce said, at the Q&A session, that him and Spider-Man will be "teaming up" for the next movie. For some reason, a dozen movie sites (and counting) believed Bruce was serious but he was actually being sarcastic. The only thing Bruce and Spider-Man will be teaming up for is finding out what Peter Parker wants to eat in Spider-Man 3, thats if Bruce is playing a waiter in the film (I stil have hope that he is Mysterio). I had a good laugh when I read the reports that Bruce was teaming up with Spider-Man in the next film, but it is not the case. I just hope Bruce fans don't take it too hard when they find out he isn't teaming up with the web-head after just hearing that he would be. Click Here to view this video of Bruce from the Comic-Con. In the video, a fan asks Bruce about what his role is in Spider-Man 3 and Bruce goes over his schtick he has prepared to dodge the bullets of questions regarding Spider-Man 3. In the video you can see Bruce, sarcastically, say that he will be teaming up with Spider-Man in the next movie.

Bruce Talks 'Spider-Man 3'

Super-Hero Hype had a tipster report his findings at at Bruce Campbell Q&A session in Cambridge. When asked about his role in Spider-Man 3, Bruce said that he "couldn't say much and was probably going to say too much, but he and Spidey will team up", which is obviously a joke but should have got a good laugh from the crowd. And like usual, Bruce always likes to mention that the snooty usher in Spider-Man 2 was the only person ever to defeat Spider-man. We still have no confirmation on Bruce's role in Spider-Man 3. He is either playing a waiter or Mysterio in the film. I guess we just have to wait and see who the secret fourth villain will be.

'Going Back' DVD Now Accepting Pre-Orders, Getting A Retail Release

The long awaited Bruce Campbell movie Going Back, which was filmed in the early 1980's is getting a released date on DVD and now Amazon is accepting pre-orders. Bitfrost handed out a press release in which it stated that "DVDs pre-ordered online will be shipped on the release date October 17, 2006. Others can be picked up at the stores on that date" which suggests that you all can go to your local Best Buy and pick up the movie on October 17th, if you don't want to pre-order it. Bruce will go behind the scenes on the DVD for a commentary with the director which he recorded a while ago. Going Back was a film set in a contemporary setting which shows off the dramatic and romatic side of Bruce's acting ability, which is much different than the types of movies we see Bruce in today. Pre-orders can be placed at Amazon or at http://www.goingbackthemovie.com

'Brisco' Lands In The Top 10 For DVD's Of The Summer

The ASU did a review of the 10 best DVD releases of the summer and The Adventures Of Brisco County Jr. came in at 8th spot. The review goes onto to state that Fox "forgot about Brisco County" because it was partnered with the "runaway hit" The X-Files in the deadly Friday night time slot. Its ironic because Bruce would fall runner up to Robert Patrick for the male lead on The X-Files once David Duchovony left the show. Other releases to also make the list of best DVD's of the summer include Dazed And Confused Special Edition, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and Transamerica.

Bruce's Talks About His Road Trip

The student newspaper at Boston University did a short interview with Bruce right before his scheduled book signing. Bruce is actually taking his own car throughout the roadtrip and looks to snag about "6000 miles" once he is done the book tour for Make Love! The Bruce Campbell Way on paperback. When asked about his upcoming role in Spider-man 3, Bruce replies "As with the other two [Spider-Man films], I am the linchpin of the drama in the movie". The interview also has Bruce compare The Evil Dead to Bubba Ho-Tep. Check out the interview. E-mail me if any of you have any news from the book signings.

Bruce Campbell's Favorite Weapon...Is His Words

The Daily Orange interviewed Bruce today because he was doing some book promotion in the Syracuse area and asked him a few questions about his career and Hollywood. Nothing really too new to report from the interview because they mainly asked Bruce stuff that had been asked before and Bruce gives no real updates on My Name Is Bruce or his role in Spider-man 3. One thing that I thought was cool was that Bruce said his favorite weapon in The Evil Dead movies was his words, which all fans can agree is true. You can click on The Daily Orange link to read the interview but you will have to register with the site, which is a pain, but I will just post the article below.

------------------------

B-movie star with cult following rips Hollywood in novel

By: Alex Shebar

Mention the name Bruce Campbell to a crowd of people and one of two responses will follow. The first is a rousing cheer of B-movie worship as hardcore cinemaphiles celebrate the man who annihilated zombies in the "Evil Dead" trilogy, was a mummy-killing-Elvis in "Bubba Ho-Tep" and battled the Old West like none other as Brisco County Jr. in the television show of the same name.

The other response? Blank stares and possible drool.

The truth is, everyone has probably seen Bruce Campbell in something, whether they know it or not. Disregard the indie horror work that gained him a cult following, and he's still a familiar face (and an even more familiar chin). Campbell was the snooty ticket taker in "Spider Man 2," swashbuckling king-of-thieves Autolycus in "Hercules" and "Xena" and a voice in the recent animated film, "The Ant Bully." The man has been around the Hollywood block, even if he traveled most of it through dark alleyways.
Currently, Campbell is roaming the country, dispensing monster- killing advice and promoting the paperback release of his latest book, "Make Love *The Bruce Campbell Way." The Daily Orange interviewed Campbell over the phone in advance of his stop in Syracuse tonight.

The Daily Orange: You have always chosen very odd roles, things that other actors might not be so keen on playing. Why is that?

Bruce Campbell: It appeals to me that many other actors wouldn't want to play those parts. Anyone can play the lead guy. 'Come on, let's go, run!' That's a bore. I'm more attracted to off-beat stuff, that's the way it goes.

DO: As Ash in the 'Evil Deads,' you used a lot of weapons in your zombie-killing massacre. What's been your favorite?

BC: The weapon of words, my friend, the weapon of words.

DO: And if you were really fighting Zombies in reality, what weapon would you like to have?

BC: The weapon that would eliminate that question. That's a dumb question.

BC: No problem.

DO: Have you ever been to Syracuse before?

BC: Several times

DO: And what do you think of it?

BC: I love Upstate New York. It's great. There are lots of places to walk. And all my relatives are from either Tennessee or New York, so I have a primitive DNA connection to Upstate New York.

DO: Your tagline recently has been Bruce 'Don't Call Me Ash' Campbell. Does it annoy you that you're forever associated with the character?

BC: I don't really care one way another. I thought it looked good in the name. It's like a nickname. Some people like George 'Skippy' Mcfee. I'm Bruce 'Don't Call Me Ash' Campbell. If I was a gunslinger, that would be my name.

DO: You carry the reputation of being 'the greatest B-movie star of all time.' Do you feel it's true?

BC: I don't make up those determinations, so it's impossible for me to say that's true or not. It's all perception. A great portion of the world has no idea who I am. I live in rural Oregon where people could care less who you are and I go around more or less unrecognized. When I go to a convention it's a different thing, because I'm there for that.

DO: As someone who is both involved and had a sideline view, what do you think of Hollywood today?

BC: I like the business, I like the industry. Yeah, I would like to see movies improve a little bit. I would like to see more indies come out. When you are making an 'A' movie you are compressing it to the things people will like. When you make a 'B' movie, they are not apologetic about the hokey writing or homemade quality … You're not shaving out the highs and the lows. 'B' movies are not for everyone, but 'B' is for better. That's why you will have fans. There are a lot of 'A' movies that wish they had the following 'B' movies have. 'Armageddon' wishes they had the following that 'Evil Dead' has.

DO: I bet that's true.

BC: Yeah, but more people see 'Armageddon' because it appeals to a large audience

'Evil Dead' appeals to about four people, but they sure like it.

DO: You are going to be the fourth member of the 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force,' Chicken Bittle the Chicken Nugget, in the upcoming movie. Where did that come from?

BC: These things come from nowhere; they come from paper. As an actor the phone just rings or the e-mails come in. It's one of those cases; I think someone was just looking for me.

DO: You ever watch the show?

BC: No, I've never seen it. But to be fair, that's true for a lot of things I do. Actors don't know when things are airing. A lot of time I don't know when something is airing. Then someone will call me up and say, 'Hey I saw what you did! … Eh, it was alright.'

DO: In your latest novel, "Make Love …," you, very playfully, rip on a lot of people in Hollywood.

BC: Yeah, baby.

DO: Have you gotten any negative feedback, or can Hollywood take a joke?

BC: In the book, I am easily the biggest idiot in the book. So Richard Gere has nothing to worry about. They are all going to be fine. In case anyone bothers to look, it says right on the front: a novel.

DO: You are now touring for the paperback 'Director's Cut' of the book. What's
new in it?

BC: There's all new chapters man … probably 60 pages of new material. It's a way to flesh it out a little bit. Plus, it's $10 cheaper than the hard cover, $14.95. For you cheap college students, there's your reason right there to buy it. And it's got lots of pretty pictures.

DO: What do you think of college towns and students?

BC: I like college kids because they are a little more interested in trouble and controversy and making fun of things. They are a good breeding ground for torment.

DO: Any advice for students at Syracuse University trying to break into the business?

BC: Lead, don't follow. Make people copy you, don't copy something else … Be original, it's the only way you are going to wind up doing anything.

DO: So how does one make love the Bruce Campbell way?

BC: Fictionally.

Bruce Campbell Plays A Minor Role In 'The Woods'

We were all wondering how big a part Bruce had in the indie film The Woods, until now. Contact Music has put out a negative review of the film from the Director of the cult classic May and has said that Bruce is in the film with about "five minutes of screentime". Now we are not suggesting that you shouldn't go out and see this film, its just a warning so you don't get fooled by the DVD cover like everyone did with Menno's Mind (Power.com in Canada). Everyone should go see this movie because of Bruce, I will for sure. It's funny on how the DVD is being promoted because on the cover they have 4 people shown, none of which are Bruce, but on the cast list at the top of the DVD cover their are only 3 names, and Bruce is one of them. Bruce plays 'Joe Fasalo' in the film about evil lurking in the woods outside an all girls school. Hey, anything with Bruce's name is good to me. The Woods drops on DVD on Ocotober 3rd, just in time for Halloween season.

Bruce Vows To Never Star In Another TV Series

Syracuse Post-Standard put out an interview with Bruce today and we got a few timbits to share. They did an interview with Bruce Campbell to celebrate the re-release of Make Love! The Bruce Campbell Way but Bruce soon offered insight into his career and even Jack Of All Trades. When asked about why Bruce likes doing 'B' movies as opposed to 'A' movies, Bruce replies, " I want to be where I can be creative. I'm OK if the budget is low. Just leave me alone". It also looks like some of My Name Is Bruce was shot on the backlot of Bruce's ranch in Oregon as Bruce states, " Shot it on my property. I built a back lot on my property. You know, so now I have a Western town outside my window". Bruce also went on to say that the budget for My Name Is Bruce is hovering around $1.5 million. And finally the bad news, when the interviewer asks Bruce if he likes working in television, Bruce replies, "After [Jack of all Trades], I went, OK, this is for idiots, you know, this type of work. It's hard work to do the lead of an action show. Never again. No way, Jack. My life is too short." I remember when Jack of all Trades was cancelled Bruce posted a message on the old Studios USA Jack of all Trades forum and said "I promise you that one day, I'll star in a TV show that lasts for more than one season...ha! =) ". I guess Bruce won't live up to his promise. Check out the article, it is a good read.

Top 5 Bruce Campbell You-Tube Videos

5. Jason Vs. Ash: Well we might not get Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash, but this may be the next best thing. This has great editing work that depicts a fight between 'Ash' and 'Jason'

4. Tobey Maguire and Bruce Campbell discussing Sam Raimi: This is a very cool video. You wouldn't think it would be touching but it really is. At the end of the video Bruce sheds some light on how far him and Sam have come in the business and how much things stay the same (Sam still beats Bruce with a stick).

3. Evil Dead Regeneration: I've posted this before but I think it deserves to be posted again. Their are over 30 individual Youtube clips and they are all posted in chronological order if you click on the link and scroll down. Evil Dead Regeneration was a video game that was released about a year ago that features the voice of Bruce as 'Ash' and Ted Raimi as he demonic sidekick. Out of all the Evil Dead games, this is the best one.

2. Within The Woods: I would give this the top You-Tube video but the uploader of the video didn't add the last 5 minutes of the film. So all the footage isnt their but it is a great watch. Within The Woods was a short film that Sam, Rob, and Bruce made to use as a marketing tool to help raise funds for The Evil Dead.

1. Dinner For 5 With Bruce Campbell (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3): This is a episode of Dinner For 5 which is hosted by John Favereau and has Bruce steal the show. The first part is the best because Bruce talks about the making of Evil Dead and how hard it is raise money. This is great for independant movie junkies.

Honorable Mentions: Clip Of Bruce as 'Ed Billik' on Ellen, Early Super 8 Clips Of Sam Raimi And Bruce Campbell, Morning Wood With Bruce Campbell

Feel free to post some links to your favorite Bruce videos in the comments section. Remember, you don't need to sign up or anything to post comments, lets create more discussion.
